Self-Leadership

What are the stories you are telling yourself about yourself?

Clouds and light

We know about the concept of self-talk, and we know the power thereof. It remains critical to evaluate your self-talk. Before you go out to pitch, to present or to sell, what are you saying to yourself?

When they reject your offering or proposal, is your self-talk energising you for tomorrow, when you get up to sell again?

Daniel Pink, in one of his books on selling, talks about “buoyancy”—what we call staying power. It is the ability to rise after a feeling of defeat, to go back after the door was shut in your face, and to make the call again after previous attempts were declined.

When you make rejection about you, you do not help your cause. When you continue knocking on those doors, eventually one will open.

What I know for sure is that the people who make it in the end do so because they have staying power. They have grit.

What do you need to tell yourself to get ahead?
